Hello CKS families!
I am so grateful for the opportunity to teach art this year at CKS for your kiddos. My teaching background goes back over 20 years where I have taught at local community art centers as well as private lessons at after school programs. Last year I stepped in to teach art at Saint Cecilia School in Ames, IA when the current art teacher had to leave to take care of a loved one. I am also a regular substitute teacher in Ames as well.
When I’m not in the classroom I am usually working on my latest children book or design project in my design studio in Ames. I also have a business 5 Fingers Creative where I offer creative design and illustration services. Since 2012 I have designed and illustrated 11 children’s books for independent authors across the country. In 2012 I created and self published a line of kid’s educational books called “My Very Silly Monster”. Today I have eleven titles under the brand.
I also love to create murals for schools, libraries, and businesses. I have had the blessing to create murals for Saint Cecilia School, Ames Public Library, Carnegie Stout Library in Dubuque, IA, and Collins-Maxwell Elementary School in Collins, IA.
I live in Ames with my wife Barb and four children (12-19). We are very active in our parish. I have volunteered as a leader for Cub Scouts and Scouts BSA since 2011.
For fun I like to draw caricatures, spend time outdoors with my family and enjoy attending the numerous school activities my kids are in.
I believe that art should be fun and creativity and imagination are blessings from God and not to be wasted. I’m looking forward to a very fun and creative school year!
