Meet Sara Rooney, administrator at Christ the King Catholic School. This is Rooney's second year at Christ the King Catholic School, but she brings fourteen years of experience in education to the role. She previously served as a K-12 ESL Teacher, classroom teacher, ESL Coordinator, Curriculum and Assessment Coordinator, Instructional Coach, and School Administrator. Before her time in education, Rooney spent nearly a decade in community outreach programming to support the needs of the marginalized in our community. She comes to the Diocese of Des Moines from St. Cecilia Catholic School in Ames, Iowa where she has served as the school's administrator since 2018. "I am very excited to work for a vibrant neighborhood parish like Christ the King. The ministries of the parish and the school really align with Catholic social teaching, and I have looked forward in my career to working in a place that strives to be the hands and feet of Jesus for the community," shared Rooney. "I am passionate about providing a Catholic education for all who want it. I believe it provides the most solid foundation to prepare students for a life of faith and service." Rooney earned a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from Iowa State University, a Master of Arts in Teaching from Drake University, a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from Creighton University, and a Graduate Certificate in Catholic School Leadership from Creighton University. Rooney grew up on a farm in Goldfield, Iowa. When she's not at school, you can find her in the kitchen with her children or outdoors, enjoying God's creation.
