I joined the Christ the King School community in the 2013-2014 school year. Since that time I have taught religion and social studies to our students in middle school. Here at CKS I can share my faith and my culture of having a mix ancestry of Native American, African American, and European heritage.
I am active with various committees within the school, I am the 6th grade homeroom teacher, and help with student leadership teams as well as be an assistant coach for track.
I graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in 2011 with a Bachelor's Degree in history education with the all social studies endorsement. Then in 2021, I earned my Masters Degree in effective leadership and curriculum design from Buena Vista University. I further attend trainings to stay up to date with best practices as I am a lifelong learner.
In 2022, I was selected as the Des Moines Diocese urban Teacher of the Year which was a grateful moment of my teaching career so far. I feel fortunate to work in a supportive community!
When I’m not working I enjoy reading, listening to podcasts, watching TV, hanging out with friends, working out at OrangeTheory, watching the Minnesota Twins and the Colorado Avalanche. I am an avid Olympics fan. I am very close to my family. I have a twin sister and a younger sister. I am also an aunt which is a joy!
