Students will earn a demerit for inappropriate school behavior. Inappropriate school behaviors may include but are not limited to behavior (disrespect, disruption, etc), tardy to class, cell phone use during the school day, dress code (untucked shirts, inappropriate clothes on jeans days, etc.), technology violation, and being unprepared to class.
After 3 demerits in the same category, the student will earn a detention that will be served during recess. The student will fill out the detention form that needs to be signed by a parent to be brought back the following day. If not brought back, will result in another detention.
After 3 detentions in the same category there will be a parent meeting with middle school staff.
After 6 detentions in the same category there will be an in school suspension with a second parent meeting with middle school staff.
After 9 detentions in the same category there will be a discussion of possible expulsion and/or a plan to help the student to be successful.
Tardy Policy:
At the beginning of each class period (including specials), attendance will be taken.
If a student comes to class after class has begun, that student is counted tardy.
Unexcused tardies only
If a student has three tardies for being late to school, a detention will be assigned for the end of that week.
Study Hall Policy
Once study hall has begun students must stay in their study hall/WIN Time until 3:15 when it is time to pack up.
Students are not allowed to leave their study hall once study hall has begun.
This means that students must be prepared for study hall at the beginning of class.
Think of everything you have for homework and bring it to class with you.
Acceptable reasons to leave study hall:
Going to see Mrs. Barrington at a certain time.
If you have permission by another teacher and your study hall teacher to see a certain teacher at a designated time.
If you have a pass to get a drink or use the restroom.
Unacceptable reasons to leave study hall:
Forgetting something in your locker.
Going to another study hall without permission from a teacher.
Going to get a drink or to the bathroom without a pass.
Must be silent and working
Must be working on school-related items such as homework, reading, typing, etc.
No computer games.
Need a teacher’s pass in advance in order to leave the study hall.
Late Work Policy
If absent: the student has 2 additional school day to make up work for each day they were absent
6th grade (projects only):
-10% on the day it's due
After 3 days and not turned in it is a zero
Still, have to turn it in for no credit
7th grade (projects only):
-10% on the day it's due
-15% on the second day it's late
-20% on the third day it's late
After 3 days and not turned in it is a zero
Still, have to turn it in for no credit
8th grade:
-10% on the day it's due
-20% on the second day it's late
-30% on the third day it's late
After 3 days and not turned in it is a zero
Still, have to turn it in for no credit
Students missing work will stay inside for recess until all missing work is caught up
Honor Roll Policy
Honor roll will be determined by the previous trimester's grade point average.
It must be a 3.0 or higher in ALL classes (core & specials)
